axxa / abraxas
Based out of Asheville, NC, Axxa / Abraxas is the longstanding art-psych project of songwriter/ artist Ben Asbury. Hitting on a wide sonic array from psych-pop to post punk to shoegaze, the band has currently released 3 LPs, Axxa/ Abraxas (2014), Family Altar (2017), and Get Weird or Die Boring (2019), and has a new 7” single out as of September 3rd, 2020. Over the years Ben has been accompanied live by a revolving cast of characters with several long-standing iterations.

Say goodbye to bulky, cheaply made, ‘minimalist’ storage cubes. Say goodbye to finding a billion boxes for your records when you have to move.
With the Modular Media Storage System you can now have high quality shelving that can grow with your record collection. These shelving units are designed to stack seamlessly and attractively and have built in handles, which means they can be transported without removing your records to make moving your collection a breeze.
The standard models include shelving boxes made for:
7”/45 RPM records- 9 3/4”x 9 3/4”x 9 1/4” (HxWxD) square, holds approx. 75 7” records.
10”/78 RPM records- 12 3/4”x 12 3/4”x 12 1/4” square, holds approx. 60 10” records.
12”/33 1/3 RPM records- 14 3/4”x 14 3/4”x 16” square, holds approx. 70 12” records
~or~ 14 3/4”x 29 1/2”x 16” rectangle, holds approx. 150 12” records.

the most basic models available and are totally unfinished but are ready for a DIY paint/ stain job. This is the most economical shelving line.

A big perk of the Modular Media System is that the shelves stack together so that you can add more pieces as your record collection grows. Buying pieces in sets is a good way to get your system started and save some money.

CUSTOM shop
Any of the previously pictured shelving can be customized in terms of stain color/ design or handle position and still function within the Modular Media Shelving System. However we are open to commissions of custom pieces that vary in size, shape or functionality. We can make everything from large scale furniture to more intricate variations of cube based shelves. Have a specific space where you want your shelve to be? Email modularmediastorage@gmail.com with dimensions and we can talk about options that will give you adequate storage and ideally help make moving your collection easier. We can also make shelving for books, Cds, cassettes, etc.
Pictured above is a lunchbox style 7” cube which includes a hinged, fitted top with a latch and a handle. It would be the perfect carrying case for an all 45 RPM dj set. These can be made to order for the price of $50.
Below are some examples of more customized pieces. Theres a large scale record shelf, a three piece set and some pieces that illustrate variations on the main Storage System theme. Theres also a rack mount piece I made for my recording set up, so if you have an idea of something outside of the realm of standard shelving don’t hesitate so contact me and I’ll see what I can do.
